A pathway to health equity is an examination of the history of a city, neighborhood or region to understand the historical roots of policies that have influenced the disparities that persist today. My Power People (MPP) research encompasses current disparities, as well as the geography, patterns of immigration and migration, history of Native American populations, local and regional economies, as well as inequalities in housing, real estate policies, and education within a community. As a person’s “lived experience” is shaped by history and context, the Pathways to Health Equity report provides a starting point for listening, learning, and beginning to understand lived experience.
This research is transformative because it changes how organizers enter a community; helps identify present day key influencers; and creates a better foundation for health equity solutions.
Pathways to Health Equity creates groundwork for solutions to systemic problems.
